FEBRUARY 2025 NEWSLETTER: UPDATES FROM THE INDEPENDENT DRIVERS GUILD

On February 14, App Workers Made Our Voices Heard!
For the second year in a row, rideshare and delivery workers took action on Valentine’s Day, demanding fair pay, better protections, and respect from app companies. We celebrate the Independent Drivers Guild members, Justice for App Workers members, and other app workers allies for standing together in cities like New York, London, Atlanta, Hartford, Newark, Nashville, and beyond to grow our movement. This is just the beginning—drivers and delivery workers worldwide are uniting like never before. Let’s keep up the fight until all app workers win the rights we deserve!
Winter Driving & Rideshare Accidents: Get the Help You Deserve
Slick, icy roads and bad weather mean higher accident risks for rideshare drivers. If you’re injured while driving for Uber or Lyft, IDG Legal is here for you. As a partner of the IDG, our skilled and experienced lawyers specialize in rideshare accidents, fighting for the full compensation you deserve for your injuries – including medical expenses and pain and suffering. We also provide expert guidance on insurance and vehicle damage claims. Best of all, our help is free for rideshare drivers. Don’t face the aftermath alone. For a consultation, call/text us at (646) 687-7587 or fill out a quick form here.
IDG New York Drivers Testify at TLC Hearing on Pay and Policies
Thank you to the IDG New York drivers who testified at the TLC hearing on pay and policies! You made it clear that drivers are struggling and need a raise. The app companies will try to mislead and intimidate the TLC, but we won’t let them. Drivers deserve fair pay and strong protections, and we will keep fighting until the TLC takes action. If you did not testify, please make sure to leave a comment about your pay for the TLC today!
Illinois Members: Thank You for Attending Our Historic Meeting
Thank you to everyone who joined us on Monday, February 5, at Allegra Banquets in Schiller Park for an energizing driver meeting on the historic Massachusetts’ union victory and what it means for Illinois drivers! Hosted by IDG, the Machinists Union, and Justice for App Workers, we learned how drivers in Massachusetts fought and won—and now it’s our turn. To win fair pay and protections, we need every driver in Illinois to join our movement. Spread the word, bring more drivers in, and let’s make history together!
New York Drivers: Add Your Voice—Demand Fair Wages, Better Protections, and Real Solutions by Signing Our Petition!
Last summer, many NYC drivers lost critical income due to unfair app lockouts. It’s time to act! IDG is demanding that the Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) hold Uber and Lyft accountable. We’re fighting for compensation, higher pay, stronger lockout protections, limits on new FHV licenses, affordable insurance, more relief stands and EV chargers, fairer parking, and a ban on autonomous vehicles. Stand with us—sign the petition now to protect drivers’ rights and financial security!

Protecting Your Earnings: IDG Continues to Fight for Drivers Regarding New York City Congestion Pricing
The Independent Drivers Guild is committed to ensuring that FHV drivers are not unfairly burdened by New York City’s congestion pricing plan. We have fought to ensure that no tax is taken directly from drivers. IDG NY will continue fighting to protect drivers’ earnings and prevent them from being directly taxed for congestion pricing. As legal challenges are already underway, and political opposition continues to grow, no matter what happens, IDG will always stand up for drivers’ rights and financial security.
Honoring Black History with the Independent Drivers Guild
This Black History Month, the Independent Drivers Guild celebrates the contributions, resilience, and leadership of Black drivers and workers who have shaped our industry and labor movements. From past struggles for fair wages to today’s fight for driver rights, we recognize the power of unity in creating change. Join us this month as we uplift stories, share resources, and continue advocating for a fair and just future for all drivers.
